MP8 \u00e9 um pept\u00eddeo pequeno derivado do citocromo C. Ele tem o grupo HEME ligado por duas ciste\u00ednas e uma histidina. Por causa do \u00e1tomo de Ferro, ele pode ganhar ou perder um el\u00e9tron. O MP8 \u00e9 um bom composto de refer\u00eancia para simulac\u00f5es de prote\u00ednas maiores contendo um ou mais grupos HEME. A imagem foi extra\u00edda do trabalho de Cruzeiro, Amaral e Roitberg. O Prof. Marcos S. Amaral contribuiu nesse trabalho durante, e depois, de seu afastamento para est\u00e1gio p\u00f3s-doutoral na University of Florida. Na ocasi\u00e3o, foram implementadas novas funcionalidades no c\u00f3digo do Pacote Computacional AMBER (usado para simulac\u00f5es por Din\u00e2mica Molecular etc). Atualmente, uma acad\u00eamica do curso de Ci\u00eancias Biol\u00f3gicas da UFMS, Isabela Bicalho, vem estudando o MP8 e o citocromo C usando o AMBER e essa metodologia proposta nesse artigo, sob orientac\u00e3o do prof. Marcos S.
